Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience in API design with a variety of technologies like Java, NodeJS, NoSQL, and Relational Databases.
  • Hands-on experience designing RESTful APIs (Swagger/OpenAPI 2.0/3.0).
  • Hands-on experience designing data models from business requirements.
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies.
  • Able to define and solve technical system interactions to achieve a business need.
  • Able to create API designs that are flexible, scalable, and backward-compatible.
  • Able to create a secure API with best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.
  • Excellent team player with proven ability to influence.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Microservices architecture and related technologies.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with database design and SQL.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Create detailed API specifications, including endpoint definitions, request/response schemas, error handling, and security considerations.
  • Work closely with product managers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective API designs.
  • Document and communicate API design decisions, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency and understanding across teams.
  • Implement and maintain automated tests for APIs to ensure functionality, performance, and security.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality API implementations.
  • Monitor and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Identify and resolve potential bottlenecks and issues before they impact users.
  • Ensure APIs are designed with security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.
  • Stay updated on the latest security threats and mitigation strategies.
  • Create comprehensive API documentation that is clear, concise, and easy to use for both internal and external developers.
  • Maintain and update documentation as APIs evolve.
