Purchasing Manager

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Purchasing Manager to lead our Purchasing organization in a dynamic automotive manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, driving cost optimization initiatives, and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of materials and services while supporting business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Lead and manage the Purchasing team, including Direct and Indirect Buyers.
•  Develop and execute purchasing strategies aligned with the Empresa’s business objectives.
•  Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve the best total cost, quality, delivery, and service.
•  Lead supplier selection, qualification, and performance management activities.
•  Negotiate pricing, commercial agreements, payment terms, and long-term supply contracts.
•  Drive annual cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations, value engineering, and productivity projects.
•  Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and Program Management to support new product launches and engineering changes.
•  Ensure the timely procurement of direct materials, indirect materials, tooling, equipment, and services.
•  Monitor supplier performance through KPIs related to quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost.
•  Identify supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity.
•  Support APQP activities and supplier readiness for new product launches.
•  Lead supplier business reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
•  Ensure compliance with Empresa purchasing policies, customer requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.
•  Prepare purchasing reports, cost-saving analyses, and executive presentations for Plant and Corporate Leadership.

Education and experience:

•  Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
•  Minimum of 7–10 years of purchasing experience within the automotive industry.
•  At least 5 years of leadership experience managing purchasing teams.
•  Experience in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment.
•  Strong negotiation and strategic sourcing experience.
•  Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal).
•  Experience managing direct materials, indirect materials, tooling, and capital equipment procurement.
•  Knowledge of supplier development, supplier quality, APQP, and customer-specific requirements.
•  Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems
•  Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
•  Availability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Preferred Certifications:

• APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP)
•  APICS Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM)
•  Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
•  Project Management Professional (PMP)
•  IATF 16949 Internal Auditor (preferred)
•  AIAG Core Tools (preferred)
