Senior Project Manager
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of complex research projects. This role includes managing multi-phase, multi-market studies, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and driving project efficiency and profitability. The Senior Project Manager will mentor junior project managers, manage client relationships, and support the Project Director in strategic initiatives.
Role Key Accountabilities
Client work
• Lead end-to-end project management for complex, multi-market research studies.
• Provide strategic advice to clients on project methodologies and feasibility.
• Expert at costing multi-study project accurately, including keeping on top of client cost models, rates and financial processes/reconciliations
• Manage supplier performance and hold them accountable for deliverables.
• Negotiate good prices and discounts
• Manage the project lifecycle, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Conduct regular client meetings to update on project status, address concerns, and provide insights.
• Establish and maintain long-term supplier relationships, keeping feedback logs up to date
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time whilst ensuring deadlines are met and achieving a high quality of output
• Ensure high-quality project deliverables that meet client expectations and standards.
• Ensure the research team keeps to timings and complies with all PV requirements and paperwork
• Coordinate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure project milestones are met.
• Drive the project forward proactively, showing good decision making, and be part of that conversation with the project lead on how to keep to timings
• Drive project profitability by managing project costs and maximizing efficiencies.
• Accurately forecast project budgets and monitor financial performance.
• Ensure timely and accurate invoicing and financial reporting
Compliance and data protection
• Ensure all projects comply with industry regulations, including GDPR and AE reporting.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation and ensure project teams adhere to compliance standards.
• Conduct regular training sessions on compliance and data protection for the project team.
A high performing, motivated team and culture
• Foster a high-performing, motivated project management team.
• Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for junior team members.
• Lead by example in promoting a collaborative and positive team culture.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Tech and AI integration
• Master the use of Empresa-approved AI tools and use them daily to enhance efficiency and work quality
• Encourage and mentor others on how to use AI effectively i.e. the creation of GPTs and the use of other tools to save time on repetitive tasks
Knowledge and Experience
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in project management within the market research industry.
• Proven track record of managing complex, multi-market research projects. Including those with multiple methodologies and multiple phases.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong client and team relationships.
• Experience in supplier management and negotiation, beyond day to day projects.
• Ensure that we and our suppliers are compliant with industry standards with respect to Pharmacovigilance governance, including Adverse Event reporting responsibilities, on all projects managed
• To drive best practice standards in terms of processes and efficiency
• Direct Reports: May manage junior project managers
• Budget and Finances: Responsible for managing project budgets and financial performance.
• Decision Making: Makes decisions on project management processes, supplier selection, and client engagement strategies. Collaborates with the Project Director on strategic and high-impact decisions.
